MBNA Thames Clippers are the fastest & most frequent fleet on the river with departures from major London piers every 20 minutes. Their services stretch from Putney to Royal Arsenal Woolwich, and they cater for all, from early morning commuters; tourists visiting London’s famous landmarks to families wanting a day out on the river.

Having grown from a one-boat operation in 1999 to a fleet of 17 catamarans, they now carry over 4 million passengers a year in a comfortable, relaxed environment. As the business continues to grow there are many opportunities with roles in different areas of the business.

The office has Finance, Marketing, Fleet Operations, Customer Service, Safety and HR departments. There are also roles working on our vessels and piers such as Customer Service Assistants, Deck Customer Service Assistants, Mates, Masters, Catering (on board Baristas) and Engineering.

The finance department is responsible for the preparation of financial statements and statutory accounts, reconciliation of the balance sheet, review of the management accounts as well as budgeting and quarterly forecasting. They also support the business by working with budget holders to control costs, identify risks and implement internal controls. In addition they oversee daily banking and cash administration as well as collecting and analysing passenger data.

HR are responsible for employee relations, employee engagement, recruitment and training matters. They provide support to Business Leaders and Senior managers to help shape and plan their future business needs providing an advisory service so they can manage individuals and their teams more effectively. They also manage a HR service desk to deal with enquiries from employees on a range of issues and also manage and communicate company benefits packages. They recruit for all the different businesses under the AEG Europe umbrella and hold assessment centres for frontline staff roles and interviews for a variety of vacancies and use a selection of advertising and social media avenues to get the best candidate for the role.

The Catering Operations department is responsible for the licenced bars on board and all the food and beverages available to customers. From monitoring and maintaining food quality to stock and hygiene checks and compliance with health & safety policies. Catering Operations champion excellent customer service with a team of staff and on board baristas to serve customers with the refreshments they need on their journey.

Engineering are responsible for the MBNA Thames Clippers fleet of vessels in relation to their reliability and safety - ensuring they are suitable for service. They are dedicated to ensuring all work carried out is to the highest standard with strict adherence to the International Safety Management code and MBNA Thames Clippers safety manual. The team ranges from senior engineers to apprentices all making sure the fleet is ready to run an efficient and safe service to every passenger.

Sales and Charter identify new partnerships and build and develop existing relationships to maximise every opportunity. Thses are things such as identifying potential partnerships with travel organisations to create new offers for customers, representing MBNA Thames Clippers at trade and travel conferences and selling advertising space on the on-board screens and back of tickets. They also support the leadership team helping them to implement the sales strategy to make sure targets for private charters, groups, travel trade, advertising and joint tickets are met or exceeded.

On-board each MBNA Thames Clippers vessel is its crew, responsible for delivering passengers safely to their destination piers whist providing the best customer experience on board. Typically the crew on a vessel is made up of a barista responsible for customer refreshments, a mate and a master. The mate carries out good ship management duties, mooring/unmooring and gangway duties and checks of the vessels equipment. The master (Captain) is responsible for the safe operation of the vessel and ensuring it is operated to the highest possible standards.

This department is devoted to consistently delivering the highest level of customer service. A large team of Customer Service Assistants (CSA's) work different shifts on piers along the Thames from Putney to North Greenwich supporting passengers with everything from route information to ensuring they have the right tickets. They are supported by Senior CSA's, Pier Leaders and Duty Managers who make sure the CSA's have all the tools they need for the job. Deck Customer Service Assistants, work onboard with the crews to ensure customers have a safe and pleasant journey. A smaller amount of roles such as Customer Services Communications Manager and Training Officer are office based.
